DJI O4 Ground Station

Enterprise Transmission Infrastructure for Reliable BVLOS Operations

Stop losing missions to signal failure.

Uncomfortable truth: most long-range drone operations don’t fail because of the aircraft—they fail when the link drops.

The DJI O4 Ground Station is designed to eliminate that failure point.
It provides persistent, high-reliability video and control links across complex terrain, dense urban environments, and RF‑contested airspace.

This is not an accessory.
It is infrastructure for serious drone operations.

Compatibility

The DJI O4 Ground Station is designed for integration with:

  • DJI Dock 3 deployments
  • DJI FlightHub 2 ecosystems
  • DJI Enterprise aircraft platforms (including Matrice series)

Acts as a central transmission node across DJI enterprise operations.

Typical Deployment Scenarios

  • Drone-as-First-Responder (DFR) networks

  • Critical infrastructure inspection (utilities, rail, pipeline)

  • Security & perimeter monitoring

  • Industrial and energy sites

  • Port and logistics hubs

Key Advantages

• Extend Operational Range — Where It Actually Matters

  • Up to 40 km transmission extension (relay mode)
  • Up to ~30 km coverage in networked deployments
  • Maintains stable link in terrain or urban obstruction

• Designed for Signal-Degraded Environments

  • High-output RF transmission unit
  • Enhanced signal penetration through structures and terrain
  • Optimised SNR for recovery of weak signals

• 12-Antenna Omnidirectional Coverage

  • 12 integrated antennas (internal + external)
  • Dual polarisation (horizontal + vertical)
  • 360° high-gain coverage independent of aircraft position

• Intelligent Multi-Band Transmission

  • Automatic switching across:
    • Sub‑2 GHz
    • 2.4 GHz
    • 5.2 GHz
    • 5.8 GHz
  • Continuously optimises link quality

• Cloud-Integrated or Fully Offline Operation

  • Gateway Mode: direct connection to DJI FlightHub 2
  • Relay Mode: fully offline signal extension

• Built for Permanent Deployment

  • IP67 weatherproof rating
  • Operating temperature:–40°C to +55°C
  • Low-power standby (~7W class)
  • Solar-compatible

System Architecture

Dual Operating Modes

Gateway Mode (Network-Connected)

  • Integrates directly with FlightHub 2
  • Enables remote piloting (Virtual Cockpit)
  • Extends coverage across distributed drone networks

Relay Mode (Infrastructure-Free)

  • Extends link where no network exists
  • Ideal for:
    • Valleys
    • Industrial interference zones
    • Remote worksites

FAQs

DJI O4 Ground Station

Does the O4 Ground Station replace the D-RTK 3?

The DJI O4 Ground Station replaces the D-RTK 3 Relay Fixed Deployment Version only. It does not replace the standard D-RTK 3 used for RTK survey and positioning workflows.

Here's how to think about it:

D-RTK 3 → positioning and survey accuracy product
O4 Ground Station → communication, signal coverage, and remote operations product

If you're a surveyor using D-RTK 3 for mapping and RTK corrections, the O4 Ground Station is not your upgrade path. If you're deploying Dock 3 infrastructure, running FlightHub 2 workflows, or need fixed-site signal extension — the O4 Ground Station is what you need.
The O4 Ground Station also brings significant improvements over the D-RTK 3 Relay Fixed Deployment Version:

New Gateway Mode (the D-RTK 3 relay version only supported relay mode)
Sub-2G frequency band support (in addition to 2.4, 5.2, and 5.8 GHz)
Smart low-power standby mode (~7W when no aircraft is connected)
IP camera connectivity via ONVIF and GB/T 28181 protocols
Third-party integration via ESDK 2.0

Which aircraft and docks are compatible with the O4 Ground Station?

Compatibility depends on which operating mode you're using:
Gateway Mode:

DJI Dock 3

Relay Mode:

DJI Dock 3
DJI Matrice 400
DJI Matrice 4E
DJI Matrice 4T
DJI Matrice 4D / 4TD (with DJI RC Plus 2 Enterprise)
DJI FlyCart 100

Important restrictions to be aware of:

Relay Mode is unavailable in countries or regions without 5 GHz frequency support. Check local regulations before planning a deployment.
Sub-2G band support and multi-band auto-switching are only available when using the O4 Ground Station with the Matrice 400.
The headline 40 km relay range is achieved specifically when paired with the Matrice 400.

What is the difference between Gateway Mode and Relay Mode?

These are two fundamentally different operating modes — and choosing the wrong one will limit your deployment.
Gateway Mode (Cloud-Connected)
The O4 Ground Station connects directly to DJI FlightHub 2 via Ethernet or the DJI Cellular Dongle 2 (4G). This decouples the ground station from the dock — it no longer needs to sit within line-of-sight of a specific Dock 3. You place it wherever coverage is needed, and it routes video and control data through the cloud. Coverage extends up to ~30 km when paired with Dock 3.
Gateway Mode also enables:
Signal Map — FlightHub 2 uses flight data to highlight weak coverage zones, so you can reposition stations precisely
Virtual Cockpit — operators can manually override preset routes from within FlightHub 2, anywhere within the station's coverage area

Relay Mode (Infrastructure-Free)
No internet connection required. The O4 Ground Station is positioned at an elevated location (tower, rooftop, ridge) and acts as a physical RF relay, extending signal through terrain, structures, or urban obstruction. Range extends up to 40 km when paired with the Matrice 400.

In simple terms:

Gateway Mode = cloud-routed, dock-independent, ideal for networked multi-site operations
Relay Mode = offline RF extension, ideal for remote or obstructed environments with no connectivity
